Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening Overview

AA pregnant woman’s blood contains fragmented DNA particles of the placenta as well as her own cells. The DNA of the fetus and the placental cells (Cf-DNA) is usually identical.  LifeCell’s Jananya, Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening (NIPS) analyses this Cell-Free Fetal DNA (Cf-DNA) & helps in early detection of certain genetic abnormalities without harming the fetus.

Non-Invasive Prenatal screening (NIPS) is a genetic test that screens for common genetic conditions, such as:

  • Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)
  • Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome)
  • Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome)
  • Gonosomal aneuploidies ( XYY syndromes, Klinefelter, Turner, triple X)
  • Common Microdeletions & Duplications
